Eco-warriors

Welcome to our Eco-Warrior Section!
We joined the Eco-Schools programme in September 2019 and the children select a new Eco-Warrior from each class every year. Our Eco-Warriors have worked extremely hard to raise awareness of key aspects within the programme. They initially focused on recycling, saving energy and reducing litter around school. Our Eco-Warriors quickly achieved the Bronze Eco-Schools Award and through their determination and hard work accelerated through to the Silver Eco-Schools Award; focusing on Biodiversity and Health & Wellbeing. In Summer 2021, we achieved the Green Flag status by focusing on the school grounds and considering steps they can take to promote Global Citizenship within our school.  They have excelled in raising the profile of being eco aware throughout school and enjoy celebrating their achievements in the weekly newsletter.

What do our Eco-Warriors do?

The Eco-warriors have undertaken a number of mini projects, shared ideas with the whole school and made plans for Clarborough Primary School’s future.

Some of their projects have included; the promotion of recycling in and around school (we currently recycle batteries, crisp packets, cans, paper and pens), created signs to ensure all classrooms and corridors remember to turn off their lights when not in use and taps aren’t left running, ensured there is no litter around school, encouraged wildlife, made bird feeders and planted herbs and vegetables.

They also meet once a week and work very hard to ensure the Eco-Warrior noticeboard in school is always kept up to date with the latest environmental reviews, minutes from the meetings and action plans.
