Design & Technology

Through Design and Technology, pupils at Clarborough Primary School have opportunities to design, make and modify products. Pupils are also encouraged to discuss and analyse their work to justify the ideas, materials and techniques they have used and to propose modifications and improvements. Whilst working on Design and Technology projects, pupils are encouraged to be inventive using a range of materials and tools, thus developing, modifying and evaluating their ideas through a series of projects.

During Design and Technology lessons, we actively promote a healthy attitude to safety through the teaching of correct procedures when using tools and equipment.

At Clarborough Primary School, we value and are dedicated to the teaching of Design and Technology. We see this as a fundamental part of school life. We are committed to providing a ‘cross-curricular’ approach for our children. By developing this, we can contribute to the quality of our children’s lives, both within and beyond school. We see design and technology as a means to support learning in a range of ways. The skills that are developed in these subjects can be transferred across the curriculum and thus aid learning.
