Our Homework guidance is based upon the following principles:
  • Children will not be punished at school if they do not complete their homework, but they will be put at a disadvantage.
  • On occasion children who haven’t completed their homework may need to do their homework task while other children are completing another activity.
  • Homework is only one of the ways in which parents can support their child’s development.
  • Ensuring that children go to bed early and talking to them about their learning are far more important than completing any homework tasks that are sent home.
  • The homework activities that the children undertake are planned and prepared alongside all other programmes of learning.
  • No child should be put in the position that they cannot complete their homework because of lack of resources at home.
  • Parents shouldn’t feel overburdened by the amount of homework that their child is receiving.
