Clarborough Primary School

Be the best you can be!

Emotional Health & Wellbeing

At Clarborough Primary School we actively encourage our pupils to take care of their emotional health and wellbeing, in order to build healthy minds and bodies that will help them 'be the best they can be'.  We understand that without the basic emotional needs of our pupils being met, they will not be in the best position to learn and so, we do all that we can to support and help them develop life skills that they can take with them into secondary education and beyond.

Our designated Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator uses organisations such as CASY counselling services, CAMHS and Mustard Seed to provide guidance and support to our pupils and their families. Should additional needs be identified, we use other outside agencies to help support our pupils and their families as and when required.

Children are also taught mindfulness using the Take Five Programme developed by Each Amazing Breath.  Take Five is a safe, universal resilience building skill set based on breathing, grounding and awareness that we use through a whole school approach. Children take part in daily practices with their Teacher. Children in upper key stage two can choose to become ambassadors and take part in a training programme with our Take Five Champions (Miss Green and Miss Mayhew), allowing them to lead the breathing practices with other classes.

Lastly pupils in need are able to access support from our two ELSA (Miss Johnson and Mrs Gulsever)
ELSA is an educational psychology led intervention for promoting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people.
Used by all full time pupils at Clarborough Primary School
