At Clarborough, we believe it is important to develop confident mathematical skills, concepts, attitudes and knowledge appropriate to each child’s development.  As a result, our pupils are taught skills in mental and formal written calculation and are provided opportunities to develop skills of problem solving and mathematical reasoning through practical tasks, enquiry, experimentation and creative maths.

By providing purposeful and varied opportunities for pupils to develop their mathematical skills, we hope to encourage positive attitudes and enjoyment of mathematics and to assist pupils in fostering an understanding of its relevance for life.

Maths is taught through daily lessons, where links with other curriculum areas are made whenever possible.
